Cruise ships visiting Fujairah normally dock at the Port of Fujairah, the major commercial port on the UAE’s east coast overlooking the Gulf of Oman. The port is around 10–15 minutes by road from Fujairah city centre, and because it is a working commercial port, passengers generally leave the secure port area by organised transport, shuttle or pre-arranged excursion rather than walking directly into the city.
Fujairah is very different from Dubai, with rugged Hajar Mountain scenery, beaches, forts and traditional villages. It is also possible to visit Dubai on a private Fujairah shore excursion.
