Amman is the capital of Jordan with a population of over 4 million. Home to the famous archaeological site of Petra. Dated at around 300 BC, Petra is located in a valley filled with temples, tombs and monuments carved out of the rock. Petra gained its name as the “Rose City” because of the colour of the rock. Amman is 230 kms (140 miles) from this site, which is a must see for everyone visiting Jordan.
Top tourist destinations in Amman are the Roman ruins with the Citadel as being the top attraction. Why not stroll along Rainbow Street.
