Located on the southern coast of Uruguay, Montevideo is the country’s capital. With a population of 1.4 million. Montevideo is a colourful vibrant place and busting with history and culture. Founded in 1726 by Bruno Mauricio de Zabala. A Spanish soldier and colonial administrator. His objective was to prevent the approach of the Portuguese from Brazil.

A must see is Plaza Independencia. This is the city’s most important plaza. Here you can find a number of important buildings such as the Estevez Palace and the Solis Theatre. Also, don’t forget a walk around Plaza Matriz where will find  its iconic fountain. A symbol of the city’s first water system which was in built in 1871.
