Samaná is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions of the Dominican Republic. It is located on the north-eastern coast of the country, surrounded by tropical mountains, beaches and the waters of Samaná Bay. Samaná is around 160 km from Santo Domingo, with a journey of approximately 2 hours 45 minutes by road. Puerto Plata is around 200 km away and takes approximately 3½ to 4 hours by road.

The new Samaná Bayport cruise terminal is located in Santa Bárbara de Samaná, close to the town’s waterfront and Malecón. This makes it an excellent starting point for a private shore excursion. For something more adventurous, add a visit to the spectacular El Limón Waterfall for an additional $175 per person. Hidden among the lush tropical scenery of the Samaná Peninsula, the waterfall drops around 40 metres into a beautiful freshwater pool below.
Reaching El Limón is part of the adventure. The route takes you approximately 2.5 km through tropical forest and countryside, either on foot or, depending on arrangements, on horseback. Once there, enjoy the incredible scenery, take photographs and cool down in the natural pool beneath the waterfall.
Optional Extra Tour – Bacardi Island – $200 Per Person
Escape to beautiful Cayo Levantado, better known as Bacardi Island, for an additional $200 per person. Located around five kilometres from Samaná Bay, this small tropical island became famous after appearing in a Bacardi advertisement during the 1970s.
Travel across the bay by boat and discover white sand, palm trees and clear Caribbean water. Spend time swimming, relaxing on the beach and enjoying the tropical surroundings. Bacardi Island is one of Samaná’s most famous attractions and makes a fantastic addition to a private shore excursion.
