Being so close to the airport, Negombo is an ideal first and last destination before exploring the rest  of the island. Colombo airport is actually closer to Negombo then Colombo and accommodation here is cheaper and actually has a beach whereas the capital city doesn’t.

When it comes to dining you are spoilt for choice. International cuisine at BOHO, which is next to Jetwing Blue hotel, is popular, but if you want down to earth home-made cooking, then “Cafe Zen” may be a good option. Both of these outlets have extensive vegan options if you are looking for that.

At night time you can enjoy taking a drink at Rodeo’s, which advertises itself as “the buzz of Negombo”. It certainly is the most popular bar in town. You will find that Negombo is much more lively at night, especially weekends, than during the day.

In Negombo town there is a Dutch fortress. It now serves as a jail. However a much more exciting experience is to visit the fish market. However you do need to get up early for this.

Whatever you choose to do in Sri Lanka, it will be a unique and memorable experience of a lifetime, with a Guides4me guide, who will look after you and by the end of the trip you’ve made a best friend.
