Chiang Mai is a beautiful city in northern Thailand. Surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it offers a slower pace compared to Bangkok. This charming city blends rich history with vibrant culture. It’s a must-visit for anyone travelling to Thailand for the first time.

Start your journey in the Old City. Here, you’ll find ancient temples like Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang. These temples are peaceful, full of history, and beautifully designed. Walk around the moat and see the old city walls – a reminder of Chiang Mai’s past as a former capital of the Lanna Kingdom.

Don’t miss the famous Doi Suthep temple, perched on a mountain. The view over Chiang Mai is stunning, especially at sunset. Nearby, you can visit Doi Pui village to learn about local hill tribes. Nature lovers will enjoy waterfalls, nature trails, and elephant sanctuaries around the area.

Chiang Mai is also known for its lively markets. The Night Bazaar and Sunday Walking Street are perfect for picking up local crafts, clothes, and tasty street food. Be sure to try khao soi, a creamy northern Thai noodle soup.
